Good Friday

duluth-lynching.jpg

In the words of the classic spiritual:
Were you there when they nailed him to the tree?
Were you there when they nailed him to the tree?
Were you there when they nailed him to the tree?
Sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble.
Were you there when they crucified my Lord?

The cross is the lynching tree.

The powers of the world and the demonic forces are disarmed.  Love has won.  Shed a tear for the innocents (from Jesus on to today), but also be glad in your heart.

Sin and evil has not won.  Death where is thy victory?

  1. That definitely puts things into perspective…

  2. yeah. peace. cj

  3. Thank God there are no more public lynchings. Well , and the NAACP, the ACLU, and everyone who fought against it. THAT is your social gospel. Amen.

  4. Powerful and very sad. This is a part of the hisotry of United States of America that can never be forgotten because we can never as children of God allow such injustices as this to happen again.
